Automation Hat 24V Sensors: PNP instead of NPN?

Hello friends!
I’d like to use the Automation PHat with some 24V laser sensors. I have tested with these:

But they only work if I wire the sensor output to the ADC on the Automation Hat. My understanding is that they are designed to sink current, and the PHat is not providing any on it’s regular inputs. It seems to work using the ADC, but I’d rather have the fastest possible reading, and also use things the way they are designed and not take advantage of a fluke.

Can you confirm that using PNP versions of the sensors would work? Like these:

Many thanks!
Jeff :)
