Converting a cold war signal light to batterys

Hi there, I was wondering how to go about converting this old Cold War signal light back to battery for my friend. He bought it already working with a mains wiring that converts the 240v AC to 12V max 10W

I’d like it to be a simple rechargeable system that will be able to operate for over 1 hour so it will need at least 2000mAh I think.

I’ve not done anything involving using battery supplies before, so I would apreseate some advice on how I set up a system that can also be recharged easily (maybe by USB?)

thanks.

Google for 12V rechargeable batteries. There are many options available (e.g. solid lead-acid blocks, LiPo-type batteries, LiFePO4), some of them come together with chargers. Be aware that batteries that have a 12V label never provide 12V (voltage drops during discharge like with any battery), so if you really need these 12V you would also have to think about a boost-converter that gives you stable 12V.
