I have a cosmic unicorn that runs what I assume is the default program, do you call them sketches similar to arduinos?

Various displays when each button is pressed saying ‘press a b c or d’ when a button is held and a flame display if button d is pressed.

I have two questions at the moment.

Can I get a copy of the above program so I can load it back into the unicorn when I have finished putting my own programs in?

And

I am trying to download a copy of cosmic launcher from github

I am assuming the method is similar to downloading files for the arduino, go to the gihub page and download the .zip file then using Thonny go to tools/manager packages/install from local file and click on the zip file just downloaded?

Unfortunately when I do that I get

file:///C:/Users/User/Downloads/cosmic\_laucher-main.zip does not appear to be a Python project: neither ‘setup.py’ nor ‘pyproject.toml’ found.
Process returned with code 1.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Those are in the default firmware for the device, which you can find here: [GitHub - pimoroni/unicorn: Firmware and examples for the Pimoroni Galactic and Cosmic Unicorn boards. · GitHub](https://github.com/pimoroni/unicorn)

Looking at that Github page, I don’t think this is the case unfortunately. Micropython comes pre-loaded on the board, which Pimoroni will have installed using a UF2 file. This sets the board up to e.g. interact with Thonny and take your custom micropython code.

That Github page seems to hold the code for a custom UF2 firmware file, not a micropython library which you can install on top of the Pimoroni default firmware. If you look at the Quickstart section on that page, it has a link for downloading the latest release. If you follow that process it will overwrite the Pimoroni firmware with a new one containing all of the code on that Github page (it’s worth noting that this will probably erase all custom code on the device, so make sure you back up anything you want to keep first). When you’re done with that, you should be able to follow the same process to reinstall the Pimoroni version of micropython.

The custom version should work on your device, it might just be hard if you want to copy any of it into your own scripts with the Pimoroni firmware.

This is worth a look see.

The file that is run on startup is likely this one.

It will be the main.py shown on the device in thonny.
The custom Pimoroni firmware is here,

Thank you so much, there is plenty there for me to work though. I will let you know how I get on.
