HyperPixel 4.0 Square - Screen blanking

Hello!
I got the HyperPixel 4.0 Square touchscreen to build a little web kiosk application.
Everything is working fine but I have a question/request:

Is there a way to blank the screen after a specified amount of time and wake it back up by tapping it again?
This would be very convenient to increase the display’s lifespan and save on power.

Any help is highly appreciated!

Thanks. So it seems the only option would be to come up with a script that handles backlight..
