I also bought the witty pi because I didn’t check GPIO usage. One other problem with the witty is that is using the gpio pins, so to connect it to the Inky impression you’ll need header extenders. I’ve ordered a new pisugar + and zero w to make sure it is not a hardware issue.

Hey, did you have any luck with the new hardware? I’m working on a similar project, but monitoring the forum I can see issues with both Witty Pi and Pi Sugar.

I thought this was the solution for my problem, but after more testing I still have the same issues.

A sudo reboot. When I disconnect (and reconnect) the battery it automaticly powers on the PiSugar + Pi. Then the image changing does work. On a sudo reboot, it doesn’t

Thanks. I suspect that a reboot (or shutdown) does not do a POR (power on reset) on the display. To investigate, run sudo shutdown and then measure the voltages on the 3V3 and 5V of the display. This keeps me scratching my head. So we know by now that POR makes a difference for the Sugar, but not for the display+Pi. Another thing to try: there is a file inky/eeprom.py which just uses I2C to read the eeprom of the display. You could try this in your Sugar setup vs display+Pi. This would tel…

I hit what might be the same problem, and fixed it with a 1000 uF capacitor between the 3V3 and GND rails. See Inky Impression 13.3" + Witty Pi + Raspberry Pi Zero W2 not working - #25 by canton7.
