M5Stack Products

Much as I have enjoyed working, as a hobbyist, with R Pi 4s, 5s and Picos, and your own RP2040- and RP235x-based boards over the last few years, it is the M5Stack range that has driven my interests over the last few months. I am really pleased to see you have started stocking a few items, but the incredible breadth of their range must make stock-holding decisions a bit of a nightmare. Might I suggest that the Atom range is a useful, relatively cost-effective starting point. I will watch developments with interest as I would much rather buy from you than from your competitors.

I also like the M5Stack components. My last buy was a “Cardputer ADV”, a Pi-sized “computer” with a small display and a full keyboard with small, but very nice keys. There is already a big ecosystem around this device. It is based upon the “Stamp”, positioned slightly above the “Atom”.

The only thing I don’t like: their roots are obviously from the Arduino world, and all their I2C connectors are connected to 5V. Not every sensor has an integrated level-shifter (as the Adafruit sensors have), so you have to be careful.

I agree. You also need to be careful to avoid 2 power sources (USB and motor power for example) with some configurations as there are no protective diodes in some of the bases. Given all this, I have still found it very easy to put some useful control configurations together - and I have enjoyed doing it.
