Picade throws kernel panic at random times

Hi!

I’ve set up my Picade and until I install the drivers, everything works fine.
After I install the drivers, all controllers and buttons seem to work, but at random times it throws kernel panic:

This seems to happen when I am pressing some buttons (i.e. while playing a game or going through the settings).

I am not sure where to start from and what to check, so any help is appreciated.

Thank you!

I am far from any kind of expert on this, my gut feeling is it may be an SD Card issue?

Thank you for the reply @alphanumeric! I tried 3 different SD cards but having the same issue.

OK it’s not that then?
Do you have another Pi you can swap in?

No, unfortunately I don’t have any other. Any clue why I don’t have this issue before installing the drivers?

One of the things that likely drives Pimoroni and other Pi retailers nuts, is changes made by the Pi foundation to the base image. It breaks installers that look for the old files etc. I don’t know if that is your issue, just throwing it out there as one thing that may be an issue. You can get older releases here, just don’t do an apt update upgrade.
