I have a Picade X hat and am planning to add a power button. I could not find the details about the type of button I have to use (push-button or on-off switch) and how to wire it. Can anyone provide me with this information? Thanks!

As far as I know its a momentary contact, normally open switch. Same as the arcade buttons but with a built in LED. Push to turn on, push again to turn off. And you don’t have to use the LED if you don’t want to.

This is the button we use: [Metal Illuminated Button (Picade Power Button) - Pimoroni](https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/metal-illuminated-button)

And there’s info on how we wire it up in the Picade tute: [Assembling your 8" or 10" Picade with PICO-8](https://learn.pimoroni.com/article/assembling-your-picade#attaching-the-power-button) (it plugs in to the terminals on the Picade X HAT marked Power ON and LED ON)

bit of an old thread, but maybe someone can help - i’ve got the on/off button working fine on my Picade X hat, but the LED is not very bright at all. Is there a way to increase the brightness of the LED in the power button?

Yeah, the LED in this button is fairly subtle when powered from the 3v3 on Picade X HAT.

16mm momentary buttons are pretty common and varied though, so you could try swapping in a different one. We used to use [this one](https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/illuminated-button) in Picade which I seem to remember had a brighter LED but was much less robust than the current metal one, which is why we swapped…

Thanks. The metal one does have a very nice ‘action’. :-)
