Hi, I’ve just bought a QT PY SAMD21 and I’m fearing it might be dead?
I’ve tried plugging it into 2 different Win10 pcs using both USB A-C and C-C cables and nothing. I was half expecting the LED to light, like a new MEGA2560, but nothing. Windows and IDE can’t see it, there’s no “chime” noise when I plug it in/out, and it doesn’t appear in Device Manager.
I’ve also tried double-clicking the reset button to check the bootloader version, but again, nothing.
It’s straight out of the bag, with nothing else plugged into it. Is it dead, or am I missing something really obvious? Thanks
Have you read Overview | Adafruit QT Py SAMD21 | Adafruit Learning System?
Probably, because you tried the double-click trick. If no drive shows up after double-click, it indeed looks like it is dead (it is not the cables, as you wrote…).
Cheers - yes, entirely, and other guides/vids.
- it doesn’t change into bootloader mode, per the guide:
Update the UF2 Bootloader | Adafruit QT Py SAMD21 | Adafruit Learning System
- it also should flash the neopixel on power, which it doesn’t
On the Adafruit site, there’s a few posts about similar DOA devices, so I don’t think it’s unique. I just felt I needed to post here before contacting Pimoroni’s support for a replacement, in case someone here had a similar issue or found a way to squirt a bootloader into a seemingly dead unit.
