Rotary encoders in stead of the Phat Beat buttons

Hello, for a radio project I want to use the Phat Beat Pirate Radio solution. Is it possible to use two rotary encoders in stead of the buttons? One for the volume (left turn is - and + is right turn) and a rotary encoder to change the channels?
