I have the 2020 Picade 10" screen version with original hardware, have noticed that the original joystick does not work well in a couple of my fav games, Donkey Kong and Pacman, wondering if a joystick upgrade would provide better functionality for those games?
interesting… what exactly is the problem? I’d guess that if it’s not working well only in certain games, it’s a software issue (and therefore wouldn’t be fixed by changing the joystick…).
I dont think its a software issue, the joystick works it just doesnt work well/ feel right, like in DK you are pressing left or right to run along and when you press up to go up a ladder it sometimes doesnt seem like it registers and you have to push up again. Saw some mentions of similar things here mentioning the springs or restrictor plate.
Does it work well in other games?
Yeah it depends on the movement type in the game I think, it probably comes down to the way the switches work in the included joystick, as you transition it from say left to up, it feels like you are pushing up but the left switch is engaged so it feels clunky in some games
