PowerBoost 500 Charger and On/Off Switch

That should work. Just remember, the battery has to be connected to be recharged.

Hi alphanumeric,

Ok parts have arrived all plugged in unfortunately getting undervolting sign. So time to troubleshoot lol!

Here’s a picture

The switch is working as planned. I have a 20000 mah powerbank with usbs rated at 5v and 3.1A which powers the tablet through the same usb cable without undervolting. The mp2636 outputs at 5v and 2.5A which should be fine for the pi3, however my battery is only 2000 mah which I think is 2A? Is my Lipo battery what’s causing the undervolting? If I buy a 2500mah or 3000mah Lipo battery do you think that will stop the undervolting?

Cheers!

Which of these would be better :/?

Cheers!

You need to read “if available” the detailed specs for the battery. The MAH rating isn’t an indication of how much current the battery can output. It’s more of a max capacity indication. How long it will last.

Multi cell, IMHO, is the way to go. But you want matched cells already connected as one battery pack. Like in your first link. I have this, https://www.adafruit.com/product/353 connected to a powerboost 1000c. It can provide 3 times the current that a single cell can. I also wanted a long run time. I had the room so I went with it. In theory it should be easier on the batteries, they each share 1/3 the load and supply 1/3 of the current drawn.
I’m running a Pi A+ and Sense Hat, headless, no display keyboard or mouse.
