I was wondering if there were any plans to produce a male/female TinyFX cable. I am creating a small model railway layout and I am using TinyFX LEDs to light some of the buildings but I am starting to worry that some of the LEDs won’t reach the TinyFX board. Yes I could use the expansion boards but I would prefer to spread the LEDS across different channels.
Are there any connectors that are compatible with the 0.8 mm pitch JST-SUR.
As far as I am aware, JST-SUR does not have a socket variant for cables, so we could not make such an extender even if we wanted to. So expansion boards are your only option.
We sell the 6 Port Expansion Board for Tiny FX (pack of 2), but other sellers make versions with different numbers of connectors, including just 2 ports: Expansion LEGO Boards (Pack of 5) | Game of Bricks USA
That may be more appropriate for your needs (they also do LEDs with different length cables pre-wired).
If your handy with a soldering iron you could cut solder and slice in these.
2 Pin Cables for Tiny FX (pack of 6)
Or just splice in a couple of wires to make the original cable longer.
I was fiddling around with my Tiny FX bits & Bytes and decided to try cutting one of those 6 Port expansion boards in half. I wanted to drive several sets of two LED’s from one mono channel, but didn’t have enough expansion boards on hand. I used my Dremel with a thin cutting wheel. It worked out great. I’m thinking you could cut one board into three two socket boards. Then use them with the 2 pin cables as extensions. It’s a do so at your own risk though. ;)
