Current limit for 500mm 4 Pin JST-SH Cable

Hello,

Does anyone know the current limit for the VCC and GND wires on the JST-SH to JST-SH (500mm)? I’m hoping to use it to connect to a 24 LED RGBW NeoPixel ring and I know those can draw significant power.

Thanks!

IMHO, this may be a better choice.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was looking at JST-SH because I’m driving the ring with the Adafruit NeoPixel Driver and that’s the connector it uses. I could remove the connector from the driver board, but oddly I don’t think it exposes the 5V signal on any pin.

Ok, I was going to ask what you were driving the Ring "with" but got sidetracked along the way.
That is a 3 pin connector not a 4 pin like the QWICC.
So maybe this,

or this?

Just snip the connector off of one end, then strip and solder the wires to the ring.

If you contact support, they can likely tell you what gauge wire is used. from that you can get a rough current limit. They may even be able to give you detailed info on the connector current limit.

Thanks again. Looking at the specifications made me realise what I originally proposed was never going to work. The NeoPixel driver uses 3-pin JST-PH, which makes a lot more sense as it can handle 2A. The cable I was originally thinking of, and asked the question about, was a 4-pin JST-SH so clearly wouldn’t fit. It looks like what I need is a JST-PH Jumper 3 Wire Assembly - Pimoroni (or to just solder wires directly to the driver).

Nice, that looks like it will work out nicely.
