How to power Plasma 2350 W without USB

Hey everyone

I am trying to work out how to power the Plasma2350w without using the USB socket. I looked at the pinout schematic here and I can see two connectors “5v and GND” at the top of the list on the left; but are those OUTPUTS or INPUTS? I don’t want to fry the board!

I’m powering my Plasma 2350 W via the +5V and - (Ground) screw terminals. The ones you use for the LED Strip. Doing it this way powers both the board and the strip, and no worries about the USB C Jack current limit.
But, be aware that this will back power the +5V through the USB C jack. This means you will have to unplug your power supply when doing any programming. Or use a Data only USB Cable. I made up my own Data only cable by cutting the +5V wire in the USB cable.

If you look at the schematic,

You will see that that Pad marked 5V is connected to the 5V pin of the USB connector. Same thing as that Ground pad. If you have a USB cable plugged in you will measure +5V on the 5V pad. It’s also connected to the 5V scew terminal. You could power the board etc by feeding +5V to that Pad.
Same caveat as above, you will be feeding you 5V back out the USB Jack.

OK that’s useful thanks. So you can power it via the 5V and GND connectors of the output (weird, but OK) as marked in the pink arrows below.

But can you also power it via the 5V and GND connections marked with the green arrow?

Yes either way is OK.
