Just made an account to say thank you! That got the examples working on my freshly installed rpi4 / phat. I was scared I had broken it already. Couldn’t find this info anywhere else.
If anyone else stumbles upon this thread and is having trouble, check that I2C (and SPI) are enabled (in sudo raspi-config > Interfacing Options). The autodetect requires I2C to read the EEPROM chip on the board (which identifies which variety of Inky it is).
