Hi All,
Just bought an Inventor 2040w to use with on a robot tank project.
I already have some motors with encoders, (Metal DC Geared Motor - 6V, 300RPM) and intend to connect them to the 2040W.
Can anyone tell me the pin layout for the motor connectors, as I the schematic doesn’t make senses to me.
Which is Pin 1
I presume it would not be an issue if I used it with the Pimoroni MMME, (COM0821), but I dont think they are powerful enough, they are out of stock right now, plus I already have some motors.
an anyone help?
If you have a Multi-meter / Ohm meter, find the ground pin. That will tell you which way the pins go. The ground pin is the last pin on one edge / end.
Hi @archertech
Here’s a picture of the pinout of our motor connector on Motor 2040 (it is identical for Inventor 2040):
As for COM0821 not being powerful enough for your needs, we sell the MMME shims standalone that you can solder to other N20 motors with rear shafts. You may need to invert the motor and/or encoder direction in software to get the desired motion though
Here’s pinout on our MMMEs. Note that they’re the reverse of Motor/Inventor 2040, to match the pinout of Pololu’s encoders and work with our cables:
Hi All,
Thank you for your responses, I think it is a great idea, and has a lot of potential, but in the end I retruned the item, as it didn’t fit my needs.
I’d prefer something that had more/better documentation, (to include pinouts etc), would allow external power for the motors.
If these changes were ever made I would buy it again.
Thanks again
This may do what you want.
