I’d like to make an Inventor but replace it with a 2350. Can we order the Inventor without the Pico? Or specify it with the 2350?
Not yet, but a RP2350 version is in the pipeline :)
That’s good to hear. Can you comment, without revealing any of the ship’s secrets, on these points?
- estimated release date?
- will the 2350 version be different, or the same with a different pico module installed?
- Any reason one couldn’t just order the 2040 flavor now and replace the pico oneself?
- Any plans to make a version with a socket, so new SKUs aren’t needed every time a new pico module / RP2xxxx chip is released?
My need for this module is just to have a small board handy that I can use for firmware experiments and explorations.
- I’d expect in the next month or two.
- Slightly, to address customer feedback. The Breakout Garden header has been dropped in favour of a 1x4 header for attaching motors via jumper wires. There’s a current override on the motor driver. And the encoder pins are routed to pads too for people to use in other ways if wanted.
- The only schematic change that would be relevant is that we added a pull-resistor to the USER button to make it work with the RP2350’s Errata 9 issue. So if that’s not a concern then you could swap out the Pico. Really though you’d need a hot plate to apply enough heat to the Pico evenly to detach it without causing damage to the pads.
- No plans for that at this time.
