Motor 2040 external power issues

Hi! I just purchased a motor 2040 board, but it has not been working for me. The issue:

When I just plug in USB power, the board will not turn on; however, if I cut the external power jumper, the RP2040 turns on and I can push code (but the motors arent powered). with the jumper cut, I have connected +5V to the external power, but it just is shorting my power supply. I have also tried to only use external power and that does not work.

Any ideas on what is wrong? Is my motor 2040 board defective?

What happens if you try to power up the board without any motors etc connected?

A motor (or multuple) being connected does not affect what happens when I power it on.

Ok, seems like the motor 2040 is defective.
I’d create a ticket for a replacement.
