NVMe Base for Raspberry Pi 5 stopped working

I have one of your NVMe Base for Raspberry Pi 5, Order #PI696028.Been using it for several month’s then today it stopped working, I got my pi5 backup using an SD card.
I have check the seatting of the cable and it looks OK.
How can I determine which part is bad?

Have you tried doing a fresh setup / reinstall? Start over like you just took it out of the shipping box.

If you’ve checked both ends of the cable, checked the NVME is still seated properly. Blown in the ports/slots for good measure, then it’s like that the Pi, NVMe base or NVMe have a problem.

Check dmesg or journatlctl for error messages from boot. They might reveal if the drive was spotted, but couldn’t be started up, or if the system didn’t see the drive at all. Or if other errors are going on.

If there’s nothing that helps after that, get in touch with support@pimoroni.com. Usually we’ll replace the NVMe Base as a first port of call and see if that brings things back to life.

sudo dmesg | grep -i nvme

into a terminal and please post the output. 👍

What’s also a little strange is that your posts show that:

Which not yet possible on the Pi5, as it’s Gen2/3 only.

This is definitely one for support if you haven’t contacted them already. Strongly recommend raising a ticket here. Hope they can get you sorted.
