Hi, I recently received a number of PGA2350 boards, and, I am wondering a few things about it.
First, what is the PSRAM chip on the board? Is there a datasheet available? I am interested in knowing in terms of understanding speed, and other issues around using it.
Second, is it possible to see a layout of the clock circuit here? I’d like to bypass the crystal in it to be able to supply an external clock signal to XIN (I need to use the on-chip PLL, so the clock in GPIO is not enough). Does anyone have experience bypassing the clock crystals in this or in similar boards? I really wish I could use an external clock without modifying the board, but, I have not seen any boards that allow this (especially of course with this chip obviously).
I’d love it if I could do something like solder in an IPX connector where the clock crystal is, but, I’m not sure if that would work exactly. Incidentally, it would be nice to have access to a barer board in general, that lets people play without the lower level hardware variables without having to make a custom board. The PGA2350 is, I am sure, the closest thing to that on the market, but it does not break out access to either the clock or QSPI pins, which both have interesting potentials for different sorts of designs.
Thanks,
The Machine.
