Pico Display 2.0

I like the Pico display and the fact that Pimoroni supports Thonny IDE and Python. However I would really like a version without the buttons and LED. Is it possible to purchase with these items removed?

Just my 2 cents. One without the buttons and LED, and with the bigger Tufty LCD would row my boat. ;)

That being said, I do more often than not, use the buttons on my Display Hats, and my Tufty. I for one do on occasion find them very convenient. I think this is one of those can’t please all of the people all of the time. ;)

I think they should be able to do two versions. It would be easy to just not populate the buttons and LED, but better if they made a new board just large enough for the display. My problem is that I want to install this in a case, and the buttons become useless if you try to do that. So I purchase external buttons, but have to place them farther away from the display than I would like.

The buttons can be removed, LED too. Some careful use of a pencil type soldering iron will do it. Just keep in mind that what you remove, you won’t want to try and reuse. If you change your mind later on, putting new ones back on may be an issue?

The new 2.8 Display Pack is out, JFYI.

The LED has a Cut track on the underside. In fact all the display packs appear to feature that.

I agree about the buttons tho

Packs tend to end up with lots of things you didn’t buy them because of (buttons + LED) which means that although you can get lots of packs you can only use at most two of them at the same time (maybe three if you’re lucky?)

It would be nice if the CS on SPI packs was changeable somehow. That way you could probably have multiple LCDs - a dual monitor Pico :)

You can run two displays if you use custom wiring. Scroll down to the bottom of the thread for a picture.
Code runs fine from Thonny, but not as main.py - Support - Pimoroni Buccaneers
