Hi everyone, is there someone who can point me in the right direction to make a Pimoroni Blinkt work on a raspberry pi 4 ?
I’m a newbee to this hard- and software, but I like to experiment with it.
The issue ; trying to install the pimoroni package with “sudo apt-get install pimoroni” fails with “E: Unable to locate package pimorini”.
What am I missing here ? Do I need to change something to the /etc/apt/sources.list ?
Already did a “sudo apt-get update” and a “sudo aot-get upgrade”
Tried also to install it with “sudo curl https://get.pimoroni.com/blinkt | bash”. This try out ended with “This hardware is not supported, sorry!”.
So, is installation of the Blinkt module not supported on a Raspberry Pi 4 (4GB version) running Ubuntu Groovy Gorilla ?
Thank you very much for helping me out.
Kind regards, Gert
not sure if it will work with Groovy Gorilla ,So I would start here , https://github.com/pimoroni/blinkt
installing pimoroni is a bit iffy as to if it will work for you
What Jack said. The Pimoroni installers are written for, and look for, Pi OS (Raspbian). Try to install on another OS and you will get errors when they don’t see what they were coded for.
The LED’s are APA102 RGB LED, if you can find a library for them that works in Ubuntu, the pins used to control them can be found here.

In one of my last Pimorni orders there was a small sticker that kind of had me scratching my head?
Its a blue gorilla head that is wearing sun glasses. I put it aside and kind of forgot about it.
Until this thread. After doing a Google search for Groovy Gorilla I realized its the Groovy Gorilla logo. Still not sure why it was in the box? Unless the next PiOS release is or will be based on Groovy Gorilla?
Weird how these things happen? My sticker is the image at the top of this page.
