Pimoroni Pico Plus 2W - GPS module compatibility?

I’ve been having a heckuva time trying to get a GT-U7 (NEO 6) GPS module working on physical pins 6 and 7 (UART1) on my Pico Plus 2W.

System: 3.4.0; MicroPython feature/psram-and-wifi, pico_plus2_rp2350 v0.0.11 on 2024-11-26

I’m wondering if it’s even compatible at this point. Have tried all possible baud rates that I know of, and the GPS module is pushing data, but it’s garbled garbage that’s being logged.

Example raw data:
[GPS Raw Bytes] b’2\x12:\x1a"\x1a\x05\t\x14%&&\x03\x05$\x07\x10\x07\x07\x01,071359.00,4’
[GPS Raw Bytes] b’515.38385,\x0e,12238.95238,\x17,2,06,1’

If I had any hair left, I’d pull it out. Maybe this module isn’t compatible? Or is there a limitation in the beta firmware preventing the comms?

Thx

Have you tried this minimal setup?
Please note, that pins 4 and 5 are used for this… either change the code or your setup accordingly to make it work…

…this should produce at least some data output…
