ReSpeaker 2-Mics Pi HAT not recognized by Pi Zero 2 W

ReSpeaker is not recognized by Pi Zero 2 W after multiple installs:

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ aplay -l

New ReSpeaker 2-Mics Pi HAT , new Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W,
Linux version 5.10.63-v7+ (dom@buildbot) (arm-linux-gnueabihf-gcc -8 (Ubuntu/Linaro 8.4.0-3ubuntu1) 8.4.0, GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Ubuntu) 2.34) #1488 SMP Thu Nov 18 16:14:44 GMT 2021,

Used this link for OS download: https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/ and used Raspberry Pi Imager v 1.6.2 to create the image.

Followed the directions here for rest of install:
https://wiki.seeedstudio.com/ReSpeaker_2_Mics_Pi_HAT_Raspberry/

Wiped and re-imaged SD card twice, following same instructions. Reseated ReSpeaker 2-Mics Pi HAT twice. I see the error “failed to load overlay I2S-mmap”, but from other posts, that should be ok with this version of the OS.

I have a dump of dmesg and lsmod, but can’t see how to attach it here…

Try this, launch the imager then select
Chose OS > Raspberry Pi OS (other) > Raspberry Pi OS (Legacy)
That will get you Buster instead of Bullseye. Bullseye has some issues it seems.
Buster should run on a Zero 2W. Post back if it doesn’t.

Thanks so much! I did that and the results are slightly different, but still don’t look like what I should see in the Wiki article:
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ aplay -l

Ok, thanks for giving that a try. Hard to tell if helps or not though?
I don’t have one of those Hats to test with. And my Linux skills are also a bit lacking so you’ll have to wait for somebody else to chime in.
