Rpi5 nvme base duo troubleshooting

hi gang, i’m having trouble getting my nvme base duo to work on my rpi5 (running rpi os 64bit)

i have set up the board and installed it according to the instructions, but, plugging the pi in, the power lights on the nvme board do not light up and i do not get any nvme entries in lsblk. i have tried adding the following lines to my /boot/config.txt as suggested by some online troubleshooters-

dtparam=pciex1
dtparam=pciex1_gen=3

with and without the line enabling gen3 – still no power lights on the nvme base duo light up.

storage wise, i’m using 2 of these, previously unused, and i can see on the benchmarking website that others have used these drives with no issue. I’ve tried all combinations of drives + slots, no drives, one at a time in each slot, no sign on the base duo nor the pi that anything is there.

image of my installed base – gore warning for my “modified” Pibow case (I didn’t think I could take off the heatsink and the ribbon cable wasn’t long enough to go around :”( )

Hoping someone can help - not sure at this point whether it’s my pi, the cable, the base or the drives. I have meticulously checked all connections and I’m confident there isn’t a bad linkage between any 2 parts.

I don’t have any other way of testing the drives unfortunately as I don’t have any other m.2 hardware.

Hm, this is not good. It could hint at a problem in the connection, but judging from your picture, I cannot see anything wrong there. I suggest that you contact support.
