I’m seeing a fair number of issues due to poor soldering, not pointing fingers, just an observation. I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember and its just second nature to me, my background is in electronics. For those that haven’t done it before it can be a challenge. I’m thinking this is why there is now a Zero with the header pre soldered on. Like all the other Pi’s are.
I’m just wondering how many might pay extra for a pHat or Hat with the header already soldered on? Just curious? I may be opening a can of worms though.
I guess it is down to cost. Although I would be happy to pay extra for pre soldered kit as my soldering skills are below average.
No header lets me do none standard things like put a 90 degree header on, or change the gender. I’ve done it a few times now.
On the other side of the coin I’ve seen some really bad botched solder jobs that pretty well ruined that project for that person. I was thinking some might pay a reasonable fee to have it pre soldered.
Keep in mind, that I don’t work for, or have any connection with PIMORONI, or any retailer for that matter. I’m just a Pi enthusiast. It could very well be not very feasible, time and cost wise. Unless you could just solder dip them and solder them in one go.
I was just curious what kind of demand might be out there for them?
