I bought a skywriter and I am trying to get it to work on my raspberry pi 2 B. Starting from a clean install of raspbian jesse and directions on the pimoroni support site on github I began with:
% curl -sS | bash
% cd Pimoroni
% cd skywriter
% cd examples
% sudo python test.py
Nothing happens. No response to waving over or touching the SkyWriter.
So my next thought was to make sure all is updated:
% sudo apt-get update
% sudo apt-get upgrade
% sudo rpi-update
% sudo reboot
% sudo python test.py
Based on other posts to the forum, I can provide this:
% sudo i2cdetect -y 1

So that looks like there is something out there, but I don’t really know what the correct content should be or how to interpret this data.
I saw that there was a firmware upgrade in 2016 posted to the forum here. On a hunch I tried upgrading using that and the firmware update program indicates that the firmware update failed.
Any suggestions on how to get the skywriter working?
