My son and I have worked together to modify the Weatherhat to make is useful for storm chasing. We bought a magnetic mount for the sensors so that when we park to observe a storm, we can place the unit on the car roof (we haven’t dared driving with it on the roof)! We also tweaked the weather.py program to make is more useful for us. The big changes are having the display show wind gust speed and total rainfall (rather than just average wind speed and rainfall rate). We changed the units to imperial units and created a module to save the data into a data subfolder. We posted a fork to the main program on GitHub: GitHub - TornadoMan21/weatherhat-python.
I would love to know if anyone else tests it out!
