Yukon and Micro Metal Gearmotors

How would I wire a micro metal gearmotor with a micro metal motor encoder to my Yukon? I was thinking about using a Big Motor + Encoder Module, but I’m worried about overpowering the motor. Any suggestions? Maybe I need to use the Proto Module?

What is your power source for the Yukon? The Yukon has a 5 to 17V input voltage range, but those Motors have a maximum of 6V. So as you have surmised, overpowering the motor could be an issue.

I have an 2250mah 11.1v 3s 25c LiPo battery that I recycled from another project. Should I get a different one?

I honestly don’t know based on what info is available on the product page? Powered via USB, the Micro Metal Gear Motors will likely be fine. They don’t draw that much current so running them with some test code should work OK with the Big Motor Encoder.
If I’m honest I hesitated to reply because I don’t as of yet own any Yukon products. It’s on my wish list, but might be while before I actually pull the trigger.

I do have a Pico Inventor W with two of those motors + Encoders connected with the 6 wire cables. I struggled trying to read them.

What is you goal / plan for said motors and the Yukon?

Worth noting that the USB power is only for the RP2040 processor, anything connected to the six modular slots has to be powered from the yellow XT30 connector.

You can get the XT30 connector cable and wire it up to something of a different voltage, though it is a bit round-about. I have a project (which I really need to post about) which uses that cable to connect to a barrel jack terminal connector, which connects to a 12V USB PD cable.

If you did that with a 5V source, as far as I know, you’d then be able to use the Big Motor module as you said.
