40-pin GPIO extension cable

Hi,

I just purchased a 40-pin GPIO extension cable, as you look at it, the grey line (which on IDE was pin 1) is on the left. I just wanted to confirm that when I plug the female onto the GPIO, the corresponding male end of the cable will be the same orientation as the pins on the Pi.

Sorry if this is obvious, I don’t have a multimeter to hand and would rather ask a stupid question than blow the Pi or ReSpeaker hat I want to use with it.

Thanks

If the white stripe is on the pin 1 side of the Pi’s GPIO header, make sure its also on the Pin 1 side of the Hats GPIO header.
If the white stripe is on the pin 40 side of the Pi’s GPIO header, make sure its also on the Pin 40 side of the Hats GPIO header.
You can plug it in either way, you just have to be sure to match up the other end in the same orientation.

Thanks, I thought that was the case, just wanted to confirm it before I did it.
Thanks for the information.

If in doubt ask, is the way I go. Especially with stuff like this. Get it wrong and you run the risk of letting the magic blue smoke out. Once you do that it doesn’t work anymore. ;)
