8" LCD distorting HDMI input

I am having two issues with the 8" LCD that I think might be related.

First, is there some way to tell the driver board to not stretch the input to fill the entire screen? For example, when I use widescreen 16:9 devices, the driver board seems to be scaling the input to fill the screen entirely, instead of rendering the actual lines of pixels that the source is providing. This happens whether I set the source to 480p, 720p, or 1080p.

Second, is there some way to tell the driver board to flip the video vertically? I have a case that has room for the display cable at the bottom, but not the top, and it seems like the driver board can only push video onto the screen with the video cable connected at the top of the LCD. :/

Here’s a picture of what I’m getting (stretched, upside-down), to illustrate: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hmd1wfx1zelduiz/IMG_0384.jpg?dl=0
