Blinkt! fine on Pi, not OK wires

Two Blinkt!s.
Not running together, but handy for testing.
One runs OK on Pi, and on four wires away from Pi.

The other is only OK when it’s on the Pi, lots of lovely scrolling rainbows.
When it’s on four wires, it just shows scrolling red/green at low brightness

Any ideas why this Blinkt! is allergic to four wire connection?!

Try changing which pin you’re feeding the 5v power into. There are two versions of Blinkt! that changes where the power is connected and it’s possible you have one of each.

Will it need a different GND pin too?
(Currently using Pin6)

Should be the same, if I remember correctly.
