Coexistence with other HATs

Hello,

I just got an Inky Impression 7.3 aiming to extend my pi setup which already has an InnoMaker DAC hat on it. I was trying to make them both coexist but didn’t manage yet. It seems that the DAC needs the I2C interface and Inky the SPI so I guess this could work. However, i’m getting various conflicts. I’ve tried playing around with the configs but still no luck. Could you suggest a way forward please?

Thanks in advance!

I checked the pinout of the DAC with the pinout of the impression at https://pinout.xyz and cannot see any conflicts. The DAC is using I2C and I2S, but none of the pins are shared with the impression.

Please post some detailed information about your conflicts. I assume that there are some error messages you can see?

So here’s what happens when I play with the config file:

  1. when adding dtoverlay=spi0-0cs I’m getting:

Woah there, some pins we need are in use!
⚠️ Chip Select: (line 8, SPI_CE0_N) currently claimed by spi0 CS0

  1. then disabled also the dtoverlay=allo-boss-dac-pcm512x-audio to see if this causes any trouble and then got

Woah there, some pins we need are in use!
⚠️ Chip Select: (line 8, SPI_CE0_N) currently claimed by spi-bcm2835

Please try this with an older PiOS version. I suggest something like 2024-07-04.
