I think the datasheets linked to on White LED Backlight Module - Pimoroni may be out of date - the 3 datasheets are all at Rev V2 (released 2009), while the manufacturer website links to V3 (released 2017):
The difference seems significant to me because the Absolute Maximum Ratings for power & current are now 60% lower!
- Rev V2 : Power Dissipation 90mW, Forward current 25mA
- Rev V3 : Power Dissipation 35mW, Forward current 10mA
I’ve been driving these things for a while at about 19mA, and they haven’t died yet, tho’ I do now notice that some of them are somewhat dimmer than others.
