First jpecdec not found then text won't render (inky frame)

I have an Inky Frame 7.3 Pico 2 (not Spectra) that’s about a week old. While programming it, import jpegdec quit working (not found when running from main.py)…so I switched to pngdec and that worked. Then today, running as a picture frame it just quit rendering images to the screen. So I flashed it…then it doesn’t show text off the latest build 1.26.1. So I did this to start fresh:

• Formatted card FAT32
• Mounted the pico as a drive an did the nuke.uf2
• Pushed 1.26.1 to it.
• Updated the import for my non-spectra display.

Now it just shows the boxes but no text. I tried again with 1.25.0. Same thing. Image of what I see in the post. Buttons are responsive, no errors show when I run main.py in Thonny.

Is my new frame toast? Is there some sequence to get it working again?

Well…I formatted a new card (toshiba 16 gb) FAT32, nuked it, pushed 1.26.1…same issue.

I went back to the RPI branded card that came with the frame. Formatted. Nuked. Pushed 1.26.1. And it started working again. I’m not sure what happened as I did format nuke and flash several times in the past…but it’s alive again! Will chalk it up to a Christmas miracle.
