How to get german umlauts working with Keybow 2040?

Hi community,

I got my Keybow 2040 and trying to use it for some automation on my machine. I’m using the default examples which came bundled with the device for testing.

Everything works fine so far but the problem is: As I’m from germany I’m using a german keyboard and I would need the german umlauts (ä,ö,ü,ß). But how to get this working as they are not in the Keycode class (adafruit_hid.keycode.Keycode)? I tried a little googling but I was not able to obtain the information I needed to add these to the class. Does this even work? Can anyone help me with this? What do I need to do to get the umlauts working?

Thank you!

use the German layout from GitHub - Neradoc/Circuitpython_Keyboard_Layouts: A repository of keyboard layouts for Circuitpython, for HID keyboards over USB or BLE.
