Is it possible and easy to connect a different anemometer (windmeter) to the raspberry-pi weatherhat?

Hi,

I would like to connect a more proffesional/stronger outdoor windmeter to the weatherhat instead.
Is is possible/compatible to just connect a different windmeter with RJ-11 to the weatherhat and will it be regonised by the weatherhat and start reading it?
Or do I have to program a lot to get something like that fixed?

Kind regards,
Hugo

That depends on what signals the Wind Speed and Direction unit sends.

I have a old Davis 6410 anemometer.
It’s like this one: https://www.davis-europe.nl/product/davis-6410-anemometer-for-vantage-pro2-vantage-pro/

You’ll have to read up on its data sheet etc and figure out what it sends via the cable.

Can’t really get it clear how it sends it.
I think i’m first just gonna try and connect it to the weather hat this week and see what the results will be. Since the weatherhat does not say it only works with the pimoroni sensor I gues it should work with a broad range of standard sensors.
