NVMe Base duo for Raspberry Pi 5

Have an issue with a new setup. I have a raspberry Pi5 w/ 16g of ram. I have a PoE hat on, and also tried with external (5w/3a) power. I am unable to get the pi to recoginize the M2 drive. I tried a new M2 drive, and i used a known Samsung drive (was working in another device). I made sure the cable is seated properly (I can provide pictures). I don’t see any LED lights up on the board (am I supposed to?). I also edited the config.txt for the PCIe info. Nothing seems to see the drive via lsblk command, and no /etc/nvme dir.
