As the old X-Hat page seems to be removed from the shop : is the old Picade X-Hat compatible with the RPi4? We’re currently powering an RPi3B+ directly & put the HAT on top of it. It would be great if we could use it on an RPi4 without having to buy new X-HATs as well …
The GPIO pinout is the same so it “should” be usable. Assuming 2.5A is enough to power your Picade and a Pi 4. The PI 4 has USB C power port and a new power supply that is rated for 3A.
Software will have to catch up as well, namely the OS as the new PI 4 runs on Raspbian Buster. The Pi 4 very likely can’t boot from Jessie.
Insead of powering the Pi 4 from the Picade Hat, can we just power the Raspberry Pi directly and power the Pi Hat via GPIO ?
You could do that, the power button likely won’t work the way its supposed to though?
That’s fine with me! After a shutdown I’ll hit a switch that’s inline with the usb-c power supply
