Picade 10" cooling Pi 4

Hi all,

I have been bought a 10" Picade for my birthday recently. So I have bought a Pi 4 and power supply ready for the build but am concerned about cooling.

I bought an extra set of standoffs, a riser and a fan shim kit from Pimoroni but am wondering if I am just as well gluing some heatsinks to the Pi ?

The fan shim doesn’t seem to play nice with the x-hat from what I read but I am wondering if the heatsinks will also intefere with the x-hat ?

Just wanted some advice before I start the build.

Many thanks in advance for any help :)

There is a pin conflict between the Picade X hat and Fan Shim

The Pi4 can’t overheat. If the temps get close to the 80c max it will throttle back to keep the heat in check. You will lose performance if it throttles though.

Cooling the Picade cabinet, like a PC case does may be one way to go. You might have to drill some vent holes and mounting holes for a fan though.

This heatsink may work OK with the X Hat

Thank you alphanumeric - I have put in a support request to Pimoroni to ask if it is compatible.

Did you hear back? I’m looking to actively cool mine so I can safely overclock it.
