Picard Max: Display gets power but displays nothing

Setup the Picade Max, but we’re having issues with nothing coming up on the screen.

Checked all cables and everything is getting power (lights on the boards, power light is showing orange ring, LED power button goes green) but the screen flashes and goes grey (like it has power) but nothing comes up on it.

Have checked cables all in correctly.
At one point we heard mario music coming out of the speakers!!

USB audio board light flashes green “status” rapidly then settles into slow green blink.

Any help please?

If you have a spare micro SD card, I’d flash it with Pi OS. Then boot the Pi from that. If you get video you know the hardware is OK, and its a software issue. If you don’t get any video then you have a hardware issue.

will give that a go thanks. I did connect a Mac and an xbox into the HDMI of the picade Max display board, but does the same thing… so seems to be something with the screen / output

Ok, yeah, it does look like its a display issue. I’d double check the ribbon cables. If one or more ends are reversed it’s the same as no cable.

Yeah - found a PC and plugged it in directly. Same issue. Board is getting power and backlight of display is working, as is the green LED power switch on left hand side.

Any idea how to get another ribbon cable to test?

Drop us an email at support@pimoroni.com if you haven’t already and we’ll get some fresh cables sent out for you :)

Emailed yesterday with photos and video. If you could help diagnose the issue that would be awesome…
