Pimoroni audio dac shim and picoreplayer

Hi
I’m trying to get the audio dac shim working with picoreplayer …
piCorePlayer | piCorePlayer v8.2.0 | www v00017 | linux 5.15.35-pcpCore (32) | piCore v13.2 | Squeezelite v1.9.9-1430-pCP
I wasn’t sure what settings to use and all the information I came across was rather vague … but I did follow the directions on the pimorini page for the product and set the config.txt file with
dtoverlay=hifiberry-dac

However in the pcoreplayer set up page I selected HiFiBerry DAC+ Light as it was still defaulting to headphones.

However shairport-sync refuses to start with these settings.
I would appreciate some advice on how to set up this card.
Thanks

I was able to get sound out of a Raspberry Pi Zero W + Audio DAC Shim and piCorePlayer.

Braklet on the Lyrion forums provided a full guide to this (plus a touchscreen) in this post.

The long and short of it @ozllanito is you need:

  • in config.txt:
    dtoverlay=hifiberry-dac
  • in the pCP interface, Squeezelite Settings > Audio output device settings > pick “HiFiBerry DAC Zero/MiniAMP”

I found the connection from my headphones to the DAC shim a bit unreliable, but the sound is good :)

I’ve not tried shairport-sync, but I’ll give that a shot.
