Pirate audio no more working

Hello,

I was using Pirate Audio: Headphone Amp for Raspberry Pi and it was working perfectly like a charm. But recently it doesn’t works no more and get some errors.

So I do a fresh install of mopidy (I was using raspotify) but sound it still doesn’t working.

lsb_release -a says :

I tried aplay -D sndrpihifiberry and get :

ALSA lib pcm.c:2660:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM sndrpihifiberry
aplay: main:830: audio open error: No such file or directory

In /boot/config.txt I have :

dtparam=audio=on
gpio=25=op,dh
dtoverlay=hifiberry-dac

Could you help me getting my sound back ?

Sincerely,
Jerome

I think you mixed up your alsa configuration. Looking at your list, you have multiple “default” and “sysdefault” entries.

Hello @bablokb ,

Thanks for your answer

Here my configuration file

cat /home/raspotify/.asoundrc
pcm.!default {
  type asym
  playback.pcm {
    type plug
    slave.pcm "output"
  }
  capture.pcm {
    type plug
    slave.pcm "input"
  }
}

pcm.output {
  type hw
  card 0
}

ctl.!default {
  type hw
  card 0
}

Alsa-info gives http://alsa-project.org/db/?f=a141e7f5bcfde7f90e3e2ca29997d3512bc810af

I don’t have following files :

  • /usr/etc/alsa/conf.d

Do you know what should I do ?
Sincerely,

You should also check your config.txt. I did not try this, but with a similar problem in a different forum the suggestion was to use:

dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d,noaudio

This might get rid of the vc4-hdmi stuff that aplay -L shows.

Hello,

I update the config file as you say and now the content is :

# For more options and information see
# http://rpf.io/configtxt
# Some settings may impact device functionality. See link above for details

# uncomment if you get no picture on HDMI for a default "safe" mode
#hdmi_safe=1

# uncomment the following to adjust overscan. Use positive numbers if console
# goes off screen, and negative if there is too much border
#overscan_left=16
#overscan_right=16
#overscan_top=16
#overscan_bottom=16

# uncomment to force a console size. By default it will be display's size minus
# overscan.
#framebuffer_width=1280
#framebuffer_height=720

# uncomment if hdmi display is not detected and composite is being output
#hdmi_force_hotplug=1

# uncomment to force a specific HDMI mode (this will force VGA)
#hdmi_group=1
#hdmi_mode=1

# uncomment to force a HDMI mode rather than DVI. This can make audio work in
# DMT (computer monitor) modes
#hdmi_drive=2

# uncomment to increase signal to HDMI, if you have interference, blanking, or

How do you start aplay? Have you tried starting alsamixer?

Hello @bablokb

I launch the command “speaker-test” to test the sound I get this but no sound

So have you tried to change some settings? E.g. switch to “F3-Playback”, or even select a different soundcard with F6? What do you see? Does any of the soundcards have a control setting (volume)?

Hello,

F3, F4, F5 change nothing
When I hit F6 it gives only the default or actual sound card and when I switch it doesn’t change anything

Watching this thread with interest because I also have no sound on my new Audio Dac Shim on a Pi Zero 2W , have tried with both bullseye and bookwork, not as comprehesively as this new user. Using speaker-test with no audio.

All very strange. I will give it a try tomorrow and see if I have more insights when I actually install things.
