Powering the HDMI 8'' LCD screen

Hello

I just received the HDMI 8’’ LCD screen and I have to say that works great. It is also very convenient the wire to power the LCD using a free USB port in the raspberry pi. But I would like to free this USB port and I wonder if it is possible to power the LCD screen from the GPIO pins of the raspberry pi and how.

Hi Adrian

It is more than possible to power the 8" lcd from the GPIO. I fact first retail units has a JST to female Pin cable to attach it to the GPIO.

Hi, I know that this post it’s pretty old but I got the same question with the new 8’’ screen that come with the Picade Bartop, is there any way to keep this usb and resolder câble from the driver card to power it from the 5v GPIO ?
