Stepper motor help

Hi All

I am after a little help with stepper motors and raspberry pi.

I purchased one this these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07YQLVZ86/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_NKVQ8NHMHZKZH8CBZ60Q?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

To use to control the up and down motion of a microscope objective gantry I am building.

I have a monk makes raspi robot v3 hat which says it can drive 1 stepper motor: RasPi Robot Board v3 by MonkMakes : ID 1940 : $29.95 : Adafruit Industries, Unique & fun DIY electronics and kits

However when I hook it up and run a simple command the motor makes a noise but the shaft doesn’t turn I def have it wired right too. I am thinking that either I am not powering it enough (9v 6AA Batteries) or the board isn’t capable of driving the motor as stated here:

There for I am looking for alternative pi hats for the job, ideally I would like a pi hat to keep the foot print low. I did find this Stepper Motor HAT for Raspberry Pi – The Pi Hut
Which I believe would do the job but just wondered if there are alternatives.

Thanks
