Ive been using my tufty successfully for the last few months as a con badge.
This time round it ran out of battery and has refused to boot since. The screen backlight powers on and thats it. Ive tried it with the battery out for a few min to let things clear, and tried it on just USB power with the battery removed.
Ive tried reflashing it and ive tried using flash_nuke.uf2 first and then reuploading the tufty firmware.
Same thing happens each time. Device reboots, but screen is just blank apart from the backlight being on and the device is unresponsive.
Any ideas?
Any help is appreciated!
Can you check the system log to see if new devices appear when you plug in the Tufty?
Just going to ask a few for clairification.
Holding down the Boot Button and pressing Reset puts it into Boot mode, it shows up as RP2350?
Are you able to put it into Disk mode, shows up as Tufty?
Can you then see the Apps and Assets folders etc?
Can you connect to it via an IDE like Thonny?
Correct shows up as RP2350.
Diskmode dosnt work, dosnt repond, no drive avaiable
Thonny wont connect.
Only thing i can do is get it into boot mode
Only in boot mode, nothing shows normally
In Boot mode the only files you will see in a file explorer are INDEX.HTM and INFO_UF2.txt
And it shows use as RP2350, 127MB free of 127MB.
On mine the screen is blank in Boot Mode.
In disk mode the display shows it as being in USB Disk Mode.
It shows up as Tufty, 10.0 MB free of 11.9MB.
Mine was flashed “with filesystem” and I’ve added an app of my own.
In file explorer I can see apps, assets and main.py.
When you flash it with a UF2, does it complete OK?
It’s sounding like you have a major hardware failure / fault. Mine has done something similar to yours, but doing a reset while the battery was disconnected bailed me out.
EDIT: Tufty2340, losing file system? - Support - Pimoroni Buccaneers
Yeah for boot mode thats exactly what i see.
Disk mode just dosnt work for me, i dont get a drive, the system dosnt register a device connected, the screen stays blank just with the backlight on.
When i flash i drop the UF2 onto the device, it reboots and the drive disapears but nothing else happens
I think it has a hardware fault.
If you haven’t already, re download the tufty 2350 uf2, just in case the one you have is corrupted.
https://github.com/pimoroni/tufty2350/releases/download/v2.0.2/tufty-v2.0.2-micropython-with-filesystem.uf2
I would also remove the case, and unplug the battery.
I’d have a look see for anything that shouldn’t be there. Stray bits of solder or wire.
I would also unplug any QWICC / i2c devices cables, if connected.
Might want to try a different USC cable if you have a spare.
Then give it one last try at reflashing it back into life.
Yeah im thinking hardware too.
Tried a fresh download and unplugging the battery already, cant see any stray solder or wire.
Not using any i2c/QUICC and tried a couple of cables and ports
Bummer. To go any further you’d have to plug into the SWD / Debug port. That’s only really worth it if you have the skills and tools to fix what’s brocken.
How long have you had it?
about 3 months. thats abit more advanced than im able to manage sadly. Have messaged pimoroni about it
