Hello dear buccaneers, I have a Picade 10" and a Plasma Kit. On the Picade x HAT the Plasma kit is connected using Dupont connectors connected to BTN7, BTN8, 5V and GND. I don’t understand why it doesn’t use the provided JST connector on which it’s written Plasma. Is there anyone would could explain me why?
My question is related to another one. I would like to use the BTN7 and BTN8 to plug a rotary button to manage the sound level. Currently I do it using triggerhappy
and a combination of joystick and button. It works fine but it’s not really efficient. But for this purpose I should plug the Plasma Kit to the JST connector. Is this possible? And how to deal with the driver?
For information, I have a Pi 5 with NVEM used on the Picade and it’s just great!
As far as I know, on the Picade X Hat, that has the Plasma connector, you can just plug into it. On the older Picade hats, that don’t have the Plasma connector, you use the BTN7 and BTN8 pins with the DuPont jumpers.
Just so you know, I don’t own a Picade.
Also, as far as I know, even if your using the Plasma header, those two pins are still used for the Plasma signal to the LED’s on the buttons.
Thanks for your feedback @alphanumeric , but I’m not sure to understand your answer, if you still need to use BTN 7 and 8 of the Picade X hat, how is it possible to plug the plasma kit to the X hat JST? The first Plasma button has a JST connector used to be plugged to the X Hat. One cable delivered with the kit has on a side a JST connector to be plugged to this Plasma button and on the other side 4 Dupont connector to be plugged to the X Hat. If you replace the 4 Dupont connectors by a JST that you plug to the Plasma JST of the X Hat, how is it possible to still use the BTN 7 and 8 to transmit the Led signals to the Plasma buttons? I thought that the JST connector of the X Hat will do the job, no?
It’s my understanding that if you want button 7 and 8 then you can’t use the plasma. It’s one or the other not both. If you want a definitive answer, you can e-mail tech support directly.
