VNC between Pi 3 and Pi 0

Hi guys,

hoping someone can help me or point me in the right direction.

What I’m trying to do is VNC from my Raspberry Pi 3 to my Pi 0 over USB.

I have the 3 connected to HDMI screen, I’m making a pi powered laptop you see. I want the Pi 0 and Scroll pHat also in the case so I can display messages on the reverse of the case.

I tried to SSH from the 3 to the 0 but using raspberrypi.local just reset the UI on the 3. Can’t use IP address as the 0 doesn’t have one when it’s connected via USB. Is it even possible to connect the two?

Cheers!

Beardy

I’m not sure I follow what you are trying to do, but I’m fairly sure the zero has a discrete ip you could use to ssh into, at least if ethernet gadget was setup properly.

Still, if the problem is that the hostnames clash, why not simply change it on the Pi3 so that raspberrypi.local unequivocally refers to the zero?

Thanks for the info, got it working! I can now VNC from the 3 to the 0 over USB.
Whoop whoop :)
