I have followed all the recommended suggestions without success. Can anybody give me a full set of code to use as I don’t have a great deal of programming knowledge.

I think the lcd_rotate might not work with some versions of NOOBS. It might be worth updating your SD card to the latest version of Raspbian Jessie. However the steps to enable it are as follows:
